BIKE TRACKERS MOVE IN ACTION

In researching potential funding sources for the implementation of the 2030 Westminster Bicycle Master Plan, it became known that six Colorado communities are partnering with the Colorado Department of Transportation and Kaiser Permanente to implement a bicycle counting program.

Specifically, the funding, sourced from Kaiser Permanente, pays for the installation of six in-pavement bicycle counters that will be used to track bicycle use in the coming weeks, months, and years.

In-pavement counters have been installed at the following locations

Durango on US 550 – MP 22.9, south of 27th Street

Steamboat Springs on US 40 and RCR129 (Elk River Road)

North Boulder on US 36 – MP 32.12, north of North Broadway Street

Broomfield on US 287 Broomfield Underpass

Arvada SH 12 (Wadsworth) at West 72nd Avenue

Aurora south of 6th Avenue and Vaughn Street

Donna Lyonne, president of Kaiser Permanente Colorado had this to say:

“At Kaiser Permanente, we’re trying to make the healthy choices the easy choices for all members of the community. Our hope is that by creating places that encourage safe, active transportation, we’ll start to change the conversation in Colorado from moving cars to moving people.”

With that, get out there and be counted!
